The WOVI Process, Step by Step
From the moment you buy a repairable write-off to driving it legally again, here's exactly how the Queensland Written-Off Vehicle Inspection process works - and where the delays usually happen.
The WOVI process is logical once you understand it. The friction almost always comes from two places: getting a booking, and having complete documentation on the day. Handle those two and the rest is straightforward.
What happens during the inspection
On inspection day, the assessor confirms the vehicle's identity against its VIN and compliance plates, checks that the recorded damage has been repaired correctly, and verifies that all safety-critical parts are documented. They're looking for evidence that the vehicle is genuinely the one on the WOVR and that it's been made safe.
The booking is the bottleneck
Repairs are within your control; the booking often isn't. That's where our 24/7 monitoring service makes the biggest difference to your timeline.
After you pass
A WOVI approval clears the written-off status barrier, but you'll also need a safety (roadworthy) certificate to register the vehicle. With both in hand, you can complete registration at Transport and Main Roads.
