Documents Required for a WOVI Inspection
Missing paperwork is the number-one cause of a failed WOVI. This page lists every document the Queensland assessor expects, why it matters, and how to present it so your inspection goes smoothly.
Queensland's written-off vehicle inspection is designed to stop stolen and unsafe vehicles being re-registered. That means the assessor is checking a paper trail as much as the car itself. Get the documents right and the inspection is straightforward.
Proof of identity and ownership
- Your driver licence or other photo ID
- Customer reference number (CRN)
- Proof you purchased the vehicle - auction invoice, receipt or signed contract
Parts receipts and invoices
Every part used in the repair should have a matching tax invoice. Safety-critical components attract the most scrutiny:
- Airbags and airbag control modules
- Seatbelts and seatbelt pretensioners
- Structural panels, rails and chassis components
- Suspension and steering components
- Second-hand parts with donor vehicle identification
Photographic evidence of repairs
Photos bridge the gap between the recorded damage and the finished vehicle. Provide clear before, during and after images, especially of any work that's hidden once the car is reassembled.
No receipt, no pass
If you can't produce a receipt for a safety component, the assessor cannot verify it and will fail the inspection. Keep every invoice from day one.
